ACAUT files PIL on ‘fuel adulteration’ case – The Morung Express

Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench by the Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland and Others seeking CBI enquiry into the ‘fuel adulteration case’ on November 6.

The PIL, which was admitted by the High Court, have the State Chief Secretary; the Chief Minister’s Office; the DGP; Commissioner & Secretary, Food & Civil Supplies; Director of Food & Civil Supplies; Commissioner of Police, Dimapur; Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and the CBI as respondents.

They have been asked to respond within 1 month, maintained a press release from the Media Cell ACAUT.
The PIL was filed since the litigants were not satisfied with the report of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) and the Chief Minister TR Zeliang failed to keep his assurance to Coordination Committee on Fuel adulteration (CCOFA) to set up an independent inquiry committee if it is not satisfied with the report, it said.

As a result the petitioners were compelled to file the PIL for seeking the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into the fuel adulteration case under section 173 (8) of the CrPc, it added.

Further alleging that the SIT was formed “only to shield the corrupt officials of Food and Civil Supplies Department and the politicians,” the PIL said that “the real kingpins in the racket are not the few arrested non-locals.”

The failure of the SIT to chargesheet the real kingpins have compelled the ACAUT and Others to approach the High Court, it added.
